Please join us for this exhibit featuring 39 recent surrealistic creations by Hertzlieb employing watercolor and ink on paper, and acrylic. The theme for Time Ghost is a world where various characters and elements exist as fantasy or metaphor. Hertzlieb is inspired and influenced by nature and art of all kinds. His message is of peace, delight, and joy in the possibilities of the imagination. It is all recent work in a surrealist style.
Hertzlieb has a master’s degree in fine arts from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a master’s degree in education from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
An exhibiting artist working primarily in watercolor and pen and ink, Hertzlieb has shown his art in numerous exhibitions. His work is in both public and private collections.
Hertzlieb enjoys collecting art, fossils (particularly crinoids), comic books, toys, and antiques. He likes to walk along the Lake Michigan shore and see the steel mills on the horizon. In addition, he has traveled extensively and feels that his experiences visiting other countries have greatly influenced his art. His work at the museum is inspiring as well, since each day he is able to handle objects of a wide variety of styles and from a variety of time periods.
