Plein Air

Event and art sale/reception

Marshall J. Gardner Center For The Arts

The Miller Beach Art & Creative District invites artists to participate in our first annual Plein Air Event, a day of painting and drawing on locations in and around Miller Beach. After the plein air painting there will be a reception and public exhibition to show and sell the work created.

Plein-air painting refers to the technique of painting out-of-doors which was initiated by the French Impressionists in the mid-nineteenth century. The aim and challenge of plein air painting is to “capture the moment”, working quickly to complete a painting in a fairly short period of time.

And—Claude Monet will be in the house! Thanks to a generous friend of the MBACD, we will have a Claude Monet plein air piece of art on display during the plein air event!!!

Entry fee is $25. Payment can be made PayPal on our website (scroll to the bottom of the Donate web page and click the ‘Donate’ button), or we will accept cash on the day of the event. Registrations will still be accepted on the day of the event.
