Music/Movement Workshop

African Expressions for Kids (6-12 years)

Marshall J. Gardner Center For The Arts

Participants will become familiar with listening for particular rhythms and watching for the messages of particular movements.  Participants will become familiar with creating  rhythms that will be used to accompany their movements. Participants will learn choreography that will incorporate the movements that they have practiced. This will be a fun, high energy experience for everyone!  Participants should wear comfortable loose fitting clothing.  Females should have a large scarf or piece of fabric to be worn around the lower part of their bodies as a wrap or “lapa”.
