Deepen your yoga practice in 2026 with a new workshop series!
Instructor Mary Schons has designed four workshops focusing on Ahimsa - yoga philosophy, strengthening the pelvic floor, Maitri - lovingkindness meditation, and Pranayama - or breath practice. Each workshop includes a lecture followed by subject-specific yoga practice.

See our event listings for individual workshop descriptions. Tickets can be purchased for single workshops or purchase the entire series at a discounted rate.

Instructor Mary Schons is a long-time practitioner who has taught yoga for over six years and earned her 300-hour teaching certificate from the Asheville Yoga Center in 2020. During her training, she worked with some of the finest instructors in the country, including Michael Johnson, Kim Puryear, and Dr. Libby Hinsley. She is currently enrolled in Anatomy Bites, a 3-year online program launched by Dr. Hinsley that teaches anatomy in a yogic context.

Mary says of her teaching style, "Yoga is a breathing practice with movement. My goal in all my yoga classes is to provide a safe space for you to utilize movement, breath, and self-massage as tools for self-inquiry. One of my guiding principles is to make the pose fit your body, don't make your body fit the pose, so my classes tend to be prop-heavy."

While MBACD has props for you to use, if you have bolsters, blocks, and straps, feel free to bring them in.

This program is made possible through a grant from Legacy Foundation and the generosity of community members.
