Miller Beach Arts & Creative District is a volunteer-based organization in Miller Beach, Gary, Indiana. MBACD created Made In Miller to bring awareness to all the wonderful projects the great people of Gary are doing here. MBACD manages two projects: The Marshall J. Gardner Center for the Arts and the Miller Beach Farmers Market.
"Rosenwald" documentary film
Please join the Miller Beach Arts & Creative District as we celebrate Black History Month.
On Saturday February 17th. we are screening the documentary film”Rosenwald”, which documents the collaboration between businessman and philanthropist Julius Rosenwald and Booker T. Washington as they built over 5000 schools in the south during the Jim Crow era. The Rosenwald Foundation went on to help support many artists and intellectuals such as W.E.B. DuBois and Langston Hughes.
Doors open at 6:30pm and a cash bar will be available for the purchase of beer and wine.
The film starts at 7:00pm. A $12 donation at the door includes film, introductory lecture, popcorn and soft drinks. Cash bar will be available from 6:30pm for beer and wine.
Check out our art exhibit as well! “Paint It Black” is a mixed media exhibit of paintings, photographs, sculptures and textiles on loan from individuals throughout our community.
The exhibit runs Fridays and Saturdays 6-9pm and Sundays 1-4pm through February 25th
