Miller Beach Arts & Creative District is a volunteer-based organization in Miller Beach, Gary, Indiana. MBACD created Made In Miller to bring awareness to all the wonderful projects the great people of Gary are doing here. MBACD manages two projects: The Marshall J. Gardner Center for the Arts and the Miller Beach Farmers Market.

The Gary International Black Film Festival will be kicking off their 6th season at the Marshall J. Gardner Center for the Arts with
Cinema and Cocktails Happy Hour  – 5pm – 7pm
Spend ‘Film Fest Eve’ with us and enjoy nibbles adult beverages, meet and greet filmmakers and get a sneak peek of the fest. FREE event
We will screen a “sizzle reel” including the following short films
  • Introvert  – Dir. Chaz Bottoms  (USA  2016 Animated  00:02:06 )-To win a bet, a quiet girl must make a friend at a crowded party.
  • The Process – Dir.  (USA 2015 Documentary short  00:12:59) – [“The Process”] What role do you play in the fight for social justice and human rights? Art is a weapon. Gary, Indiana activist and performance artist N. Davina Stewart is one of many continuing the tradition of using performance art and teaching  to combat social injustice.  This is her process. What’s yours?
  • Easy Life- Dir. Arnaud Bettan (France 2016 Narrative short 00:10:40) -The story of a dad attempting to make his rebellious kid understand how easy his life is compared to some other kids in the world.  To get his message across, he tells a vivid story of a little kid in Africa being turned into a child soldier
  • Naija Beta – Dir. Arthur Musa (Nigeria 2016 Documentary short 00:50:00) -Dreaming of shaking up education in Nigeria, a team of Nigerian and Nigerian-American MIT students head home one summer to teach technology to high-schoolers through a competitive robotics camp in Lagos.
